First of all, I see the discipline issue now. Both brothers we've seen more of have anger issues and are very irresponsible. Towards their work, their own health and sanity, other people. Dong Soo is endangering his team and he is also risking getting the force in trouble by not sticking to the rules. I get his frustration and his pain, but he is inconsiderate of how those affect others. Which also does make sense, given life and people have not treated him well. Shin Hye joining the finger-pointing wagon just gave him more proof of that. Everyone is lonely, he said so when he was drinking.
Yeong Dal is also in a complete panic mode. He acts cool and arrogant, but he is desperate. He wants to make it big, because he also sees people are always self-serving. This reeks of abandonment issues. His family left him. Be it by death or running away (what he probably thought Dong Soo did). Money is safe. Money does not leave you if you can just make enough. Because without it, you have to rely on people and you have to rely on goodwill, which he can see is rare, given the life he has had and the world he lives in.
As for the second ODP, it seems Shin Hye is still legally married, so without some considerable time jump (takes at least 6 months to process any papers), Dong Soo won't be getting his lady. Made all the more sad by the fact that the other lady also finds him a psycho. Both women are seeing his problems only and nobody is looking at the person or why those problems are there. It makes him extra pitiful and truly alone.
One last, and very funny, thing that just cracked me up was the whole conversation about Dong Soo wearing designer clothes despite having a low detective's salary. The kdrama meta in there was just fabulous, asking what this condition is called.
