Megan Lee lead in Nickelodeon's New Show Make It Pop as Sun Hi

Megan Lee is the lead in Nickelodeon's new show 'Make It Pop' as, Sun Hi, one of three prep school girls who try to break free from the academics-only atmosphere of their school. The girls will join together as a pop band in this "musical comedy with a K-pop twist and an EDM beat!"

Megan Lee to Star in Nickelodeon Musical Series

No wonder she is suing her agency over an opportunity like this. But Nick? Eeh, Nick and Disney is filled with overacting teens playing the stereotypical roles...like the preppy girl will be preppy, the cheerleaders will be mean (which is not true in real life), the Asian nerds are totally uncool (not true), etc. Only tweens will watch this show. But then, isn't K-Pop in Korea aimed towards pre-college kids anyway? So it's no different to her, really.

I seriously didn't think this was going to happen in my lifetime. A group starring three Asian girls? On Nickelodeon, of all networks!?! I am surprised Disney didn't do it first, but I am glad to see that the show is being made. I used to be a huge fan of Nick with Carly, Victorious and Sam and Cat, but lately their shows have been... simple minded. This looks like it will actually be something special, and show the U.S. that the BEST entertainers are from South Korea.

Megan is the lead in Nickelodeon Make It Pop

Megan's character is describesd as, "[t]he definition of a pop diva. Funky, fresh and free, she can be a little scatter-brained, except when it comes to her number one goal: to be a star! She loves the spotlight and spends every possible moment on social media. Her quest? Becoming famous! Sun Hi loves her life and expects you to love it, too!"

Yesterday, Megan posted on her Instagram, "Stay tuned for my new show #MakeItPop on nickelodeon! #comingsoon in April!", with this cute selfie presumably from the set of her show. Given that Megan herself went from humble beginnings to a K-pop starlet, this role should be right up her alley.

I hoped that it wouldn't flop but after watching the promo I'm a little worried. It makes Kpop look like Kidz Bop and that's just horrible. The show has no resemblance to Kpop whatsoever but everybody knows that it is centered at the theme of Kpop and the show makes Kpop seem like it is for 6 year olds.

It was already on a rough start before it even started because on Mehgan's channel people are already saying stupid things about how Kpop fans are reacting to the kiddish feeling promo. That shows how it doesn't create an understanding of the Kpop culture already. Also, the show seems bland and unoriginal, just straight up boring. Maybe Nick Cannon/Nickelodeon needs to take their hands off of Kpop. Just look at what happened to the Wonder Girls.
