Barbie Forteza and Thea Tolentino New Filipino Family Drama "The Half Sisters"

“The Half Sisters” is Barbie Forteza and Thea Tolentino's new afternoon drama series, which starts airing June 9 on GMA-7. Her role as a maltreated protagonist seems the same from previous soap operas she starred in but she actually exerted even more effort to differentiate her portrayal this time.

This controversial soap opera stars Kapuso teen actresses Barbie Forteza as Diana Alcantara, the kind, diligent and obedient girl who also struggles to remain as a loving daughter and sister despite the unequal treatment she gets from the father she grew up with; and Thea Tolentino as Ashley Alcantara, the spoiled, conceited and manipulative girl who agrees with the plan her father has set up.

The Half Sisters explores the phenomenon about hetero-paternal superfecundation—that’s the medical term for successive fertilization of two or more ova from the same ovulation by different sires.
The rare occurrence is what inspired the upcoming GMA series "The Half Sisters."
17-year-old Thea describes the project as her most challenging to date.
"I really want to be the villain, to maldita. Kindly also Ashley (her character). May only reason why he was evil because he thinks there is favoritism. More favored because Diana (played by Barbie) mommy than me, "shares the" Protege "winner.

Playing the twin's mother is Jean Garcia, who, despite her intimidating presence onscreen, was actually a kind mentor to the young stars behind the camera.
"He gives us tips on the scenes we have, how can we be more effective in the roles we have," Thea and Barbie relate.

Thea shares that working with 16-year-old Barbie is a breeze.

Barbie, for her part, says, "It's fun because not difficult to treat Thea. He did not Those charlatan. She was humble and approachable. We compromise on the scene. We do not pasosyalan or paangatan. "
She is also excited that the series will have her and Thea involved in a four-sided love affair with Derrick Monasterio and newcomer Andre Paras.

"The Half Sisters," directed by Mark Reyes, is set to replace "Villa Quintana" on GMA-7's Afternoon Prime Block.
