We already know that chairman Kang Sung Wook screwed over a prosecutor in the past who is now been promoted to a head prosecutor and that guy would start investigating the company as soon as he get into his new position, I reckon Kang Ji Wan would be the one that would be signing off of the dodgy deals for now until he gets more educated and can see chairman KSW is trying to push his crime towards him.

At first I thought the same thing too, like she was just another chaebol madam brandishing her wealth and power to the surgeon. But then they mentioned the name of the hospital...Hyun Sung Hospital. They own it and so the surgeon must do what they say or else.
That also made me wonder about the surgeon when i was watching the drama without subs. He seemed like a good doctor at first, but during the operation, I was dismayed that the intern had to stop him from continuing the procedure. The subs made it all clear then, the doctor was trying to do his best to follow the wishes of the couple lest he lose his position in the hospital. It took the intern to remind him that what he was about to do is not right anymore and for him to realize that it could be considered as murder. The husband and wife are both ruthless and corrupt and would do anything to achieve what they want.
I understand why a lot of viewers find the Kang Ji Wan - Jung So Min relationship a lot more vibrant than the Kang Ji Wan - Lee Da Hee one. Part of it is the writer's duty, part of it is the actor's duty. To be fair, Lee Da Hee so far hasn't had any of the witty dialogue that Jung So Min got. But you have to trust viewers to be able to sense when something is working and when it's just serviceable. I believe Lee Da Hee's acting abilities isn't bad, but it's still improving, she hasn't reached her peak yet. I was one of the most vocal opponents against her casting in the beginning, but now I guess I've given up on being so insistent. However, I'm glad to see that my sixth sense and taste wasn't completely wrong.

Her role at least up to now is written pretty dry. It's up to the actress to infuse the cardboard cut out with life. Whether she has fully succeeded or not, I'll leave it up to others to decide. As others have said, Lee Da Hee "excels" at playing the evil/bad guy, but seems not as used to playing the good guy/main lead. I'll give her a chance to settle into her role, maybe she's grow into it and be more confident in future episodes. As a fan of Kang Ji Wan, who is a very versatile and charismatic actor, I've noticed that most of his female leads don't have the same level of acting ability as he does.
The only time I felt sparks really fly on the acting level was when he met his "match" and equal in Hwang Jung Eum in Incarnation of Money. I don't know if you've watched it, although Hwang isn't one of Kang's most beautiful co-stars, she is absolutely his best co-star up to now. She infused so much realism and wit and warmth into her role, that her character came to life and became 100% believable. This part has to do with the actress.
